    Power Design is seeking a motivated professional to join our growing Legal team as our Risk Manager. This exciting opportunity allows for innovative expression and plays a critical role in managing the company's insurance program and ensuring that all construction-related risks are adequately covered. In this role, you will be responsible for purchasing and negotiating insurance policies, managing renewals, conducting risk assessments, and developing a strategy to minimize the company's exposure to risk.

    Position details/Responsibilities…

    • Purchase and negotiate construction insurance policies that meet the unique needs of the company, including general liability, builder's risk, professional liability, and other types of construction insurance as required.
    • Manage the renewal of construction insurance policies to ensure that coverage is maintained and premiums are reasonable.
    • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential construction-related risks such as damage to property, materials or equipment, workplace injuries, and third-party liabilities, and develop strategies to mitigate them.
    • Develop a construction risk management strategy that balances the company's exposure to risk with the cost of insurance premiums.
    • Build and maintain relationships with underwriters specializing in the construction industry to ensure that the company is getting the best possible coverage at the best possible price.
    • Work with the company's safety program to develop risk control reports and implement safety measures to reduce the risk of accidents and injuries on construction sites.
    • Coordinate the company's consolidated construction insurance programs, ensuring that all policies are aligned and negotiate best premiums.
    • Manage the company's insurance claims process, including reporting and tracking claims, gathering relevant information, and managing claim negotiations.
    • Work closely with outside counsel to manage insurance covered litigation, including coordinating with insurance carriers and managing communication with all parties involved.
    • Maintain relationships with insurance carriers and third-party administrators to ensure the timely and effective processing of claims.
    • Analyze claims data and trends to identify areas for improvement in the claims management process.
    • Provide regular reports to senior management on the status of insurance claims and recommend strategies for minimizing risk and reducing insurance costs.

    Here's what we're looking for…

    • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 7 years' relevant experience in insurance and risk management is required. Construction specific experience is preferred.
    • Strong negotiation skills with knowledge of construction-specific policies and coverage.
    • Ability to analyze and assess construction-related risk.
    • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with underwriters and other stakeholders in the construction industry.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
