When Justin Kristich joined Power Design in October 2023, he brought a clear goal with him: growth. Starting as an HVAC Technical Installer on the Hammell Drive project in North Carolina, Justin quickly set his sights on the bigger picture—climbing the ranks to become a foreman, and eventually, a superintendent.
Under the mentorship of Mechanical Superintendent Steven Kearney and Mechanical Foreman Melvin Mejia, Justin’s journey has been fueled by a passion for learning and the drive to make the most of Power Design’s unique opportunities to craft a bright and promising future. Check out the video below to learn a bit more about his story!
Prior to Power Design, Justin’s background was primarily building maintenance and building engineering. Eventually he realized he wanted to strengthen his skills in HVAC—a field he admits he knew the least about. That drive led him to explore a college HVAC program, where his high grades even earned him a scholarship to pursue an associate’s degree!
Justin’s advice for anyone considering a career in the trades? Start early. “There’s so much opportunity,” he says, reflecting on how the older generation is retiring and leaving behind a gap in skilled workers. Whether it’s plumbing, electrical, or mechanical, Justin sees immense potential for anyone willing to roll up their sleeves and put in the work.
At Power Design, Justin found more than a job—he found a place to grow, learn, and thrive. His journey is only just beginning, and we can’t wait to see where he goes next!
