Position Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and evaluation of fire protection systems, including fire suppression, fire alarm, smoke control, and egress systems
- Ensure all fire protection systems and designs comply with local, state, national, and international codes and standards, such as NFPA, IBC, and relevant building and fire codes
- Conduct fire hazard and risk assessments to identify potential fire hazards, assess their impact, and recommend mitigation strategies
- Review architectural and engineering plans to ensure compliance with fire protection requirements and provide recommendations for modifications
- Oversee fire protection engineering projects, including budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, and coordination with project stakeholders
- Mentor junior engineers, designers, and technicians working on fire protection projects
- Analyze fire protection systems through inspections, testing, and maintenance to ensure effectiveness
- Stay current with the latest developments in fire protection engineering, technology, and equipment to make informed design and implementation decisions
- Prepare detailed engineering reports, drawings, specifications, and documentation related to fire protection systems
- Conduct training and workshops to educate stakeholders, including facility managers and occupants, on fire safety best practices and emergency response procedures
- Collaborate with suppliers, contractors, and third-party vendors to source fire protection equipment and oversee installation and maintenance activities
Here’s What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in fire protection engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in fire protection engineering or a related discipline preferred
- Extensive experience (typically 8+ years) in fire protection engineering, including design and project management
- In-depth knowledge of fire protection codes, standards, and regulations
- Proficiency in fire protection design software and tools
- Fire Protection Professional (FPE) certification is a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Project management experience and leadership abilities
