Valet Parking? How One Company Lives up to its Top Workplaces for Millennials Title

It came as no surprise to Power Design employees this year when Fortune Magazine named the company one of the 100 Best Workplaces for Millennials.  After 25 years in business, Power Design’s dedication to employee engagement, educational opportunities, and a unique corporate culture earned them a top 50 ranking on the list. Amidst the buzz, other big things were happening at Power Design headquarters, including the acquisition of an adjacent building to accommodate a 47,000-square-foot expansion to the existing campus.

In 2015 alone, Power Design hired 327 employees, 36% of whom work out of the corporate office in St. Petersburg, Fla.
“This expansion is a testament to our reputation and the job we are doing,” said Power Design CEO, Mitch Permuy. “Our goal is to create a culture that encourages our employees to maximize their efforts.” As construction on the new building began mid-year, it became evident that the current 210-space parking lot could no longer hold the number of employees driving to work every day. To avoid forcing employees to find street parking or alternate transportation, a complimentary valet service was implemented in early August. Employees can now pull up to the front entrance, leave their cars, and the valet attendees take care of the rest.
The new facility, slated for completion in early 2016, will focus on employee development by offering a new training center, fitness facility, assembly space & sport court, additional offices, and 300 new parking spaces. In the meantime, the valet service is just another example of how Power Design looks at things a little differently for the benefit of their staff.

This expansion is a testament to our reputation and the job we are doing.
