Teamwork makes the dream work! While this phrase may be a bit of a cliché, it perfectly captures the culture here at Power Design and plays a significant role in how we successfully manage a wide array of projects. A key to that success lies in our Production Partners, small trade businesses that work with us on job sites throughout the country. These invaluable partners are one of the main driving forces behind turning our vision into reality.
Starting out as a small family-owned business ourselves in 1989, we know how important support and collaboration play in the success and growth of small businesses like our Production Partners; and it's not a coincidence that growth is a core value of ours. There is always room for growth, no matter where a business is in their journey. We recognize that it is equally essential for our Production Partners who, just like us, have built their businesses from the ground up. Currently, Power Design works with more than 65 Production Partner companies nationwide, many of them local Veteran and minority owned.
So, what is a Production Partner, exactly?
They are a subcontractor that actively works on Power Design job sites alongside our field teams. They offer our field teams the ability to rapidly mobilize and scale to meet any project demands. Their hands-on support covers all multi-trade scopes throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with all Power Design safety and training practices. Utilizing companies like our Production Partners isn’t new to the industry but how Power Design approaches our partnerships is. Our partners are an extension of our #PDIFamily and have been integral to our success for over a decade.
But our Production Partners’ opportunity for growth doesn't stop when we bring them into a project; we ensure they have all the tools necessary to continue advancing as a successful business. For example, our Production Partner crews, around 4,250 team members, are offered free OSHA-10 courses to ensure they have a deep understanding of safety and
health hazards in the field – keeping everyone on the job site safe. When onboarding new partners, we assist in implementing smart business practices that comply with local regulations and provide the necessary resources for success. This enables Production Partners to participate in larger projects and gain valuable experience, fostering their career growth at Power Design or within their own companies.
Isabel Ramirez, owner of Teca Electric Inc. and a long-time Production Partner of Power Design, expresses how this alliance has impacted her business. “Since the beginning, Power Design has been there for me since my husband started the company and built it up. When I stepped in, Power Design was there for me. Power Design has been shoulder to shoulder with me, trying to support us no matter the distance, even with us being in California. Power Design was the first to embrace my husband’s dream. I am excited to continue to grow and learn from Power Design and work wherever you guys go.”
Regardless of the location or scale, our goal is to uplift and empower local businesses within the communities we live and work. From crews of just 20 workers to teams of over 800, our partners are consistently making a meaningful impact on and off the job sites. And as we continue to grow and evolve, we ensure our partners do the same, providing them with the support and opportunities they need to thrive.
“That's why PDI is different, we invest in our production partners because we want to be the best of the best, so we want them to be the best of the best," Liz says.
