Our SURGE Cafe crew hasn’t stopped serving up meals every day for our local employees, offering curbside pick-up and delivery options instead of dine-in hours in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. We made ordering easy (and safe) by allowing employees to order via the @GRID app instead of having to plan dinner or shop for groceries, and offered family dinner meals that feed a house of 4, and even kid-approved meals like chicken tenders and mac-and-cheese!
The crew didn’t stop there, though. Our SURGE Cafe also whipped up and packaged 80+ meals for three local Ronald McDonald Houses located within proximity to Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in downtown St. Petersburg, FL. This 501(c)(3) has been helping children with challenging medical needs, and their families, stay close together during difficult times for over 40 years. Ronald McDonald provides a “home-away-from-home” for families with children receiving treatment at a local hospital, giving parents and guardians a comfortable place to stay and be cared for during their stay that could last a day, a month, or even longer.
Because of the coronavirus pandemic, Ronald McDonald had to suspend their meal volunteer groups, leaving families without food and in hospital environments where the virus is most prevalent. We knew we had to help our community and the local families who live within it by providing warm meals prepared with love by the SURGE Cafe, giving families one less thing to worry about during this difficult time.
Power Design is proud to support all pediatric patents and their families through the Ronald McDonald organization and encourage anyone who can, to support RMHC Tampa Bay operations–making sure families stay safe and fed.
