The desire to improve the lives of people diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis, as well as the physical challenge of the event, motivated Chris to be a part of the solution – and Power Design had his back!
Launching at midnight from a beach in Bimini, Bahamas, a member of our #PDIFamily entered the Gulf of Mexico with a single goal in mind – to travel 80+ miles by paddle board across the Gulf Stream to the coast of Florida to support and advocate for Cystic Fibrosis.
Power Design is the first-ever and longest-running sponsor of Piper’s Angels Foundation for Cystic Fibrosis, and this year, one of our own decided to make an impact. Chris Fahrny, Low Voltage Supervisor, was one of many participants to compete in their biggest and most inspirational event – The Crossing for Cystic Fibrosis. Created to bring awareness to Cystic Fibrosis and those suffering from it, this 80+ mile paddle boarding trip across the Gulf Stream presents numerous challenges for its competitors.
From training on the GRID to landing on the coast of Florida, check out Chris’ journey in the video below:

After months of preparation and hundreds of miles paddled, Chris and his teammate successfully completed the Crossing for Cystic Fibrosis. Chris showed a true Power Design mindset and pushed through adversity to reach his goal – completing his journey from Bimini to Lake Worth in just under 15 hours.
Congratulations and well done, Chris. You make Power Design proud.
