This past weekend, walkers across Tampa Bay came out to support the 7th annual Walk for Wishes, sponsored by the Make-A-Wish foundation. Power Design was sponsoring something that day too – Addison’s wish.
At only 12 years old, Addison Kapustiak has been diagnosed with several rare diseases. She hasn’t let that stop her from living her life though – playing competitive soccer, swimming and spending with her beloved dog. Addison has also established herself as a philanthropist in the community, being awarded the “Community Hero of Tomorrow” award by the Tampa Bay Lightning Foundation for creating Sending Smiles, a non-profit that donates toys to children at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital.
Addison’s wish was to go on a trip with her family – and thanks to all the Power Design supporters who raised money and walked at the event, that wish will be granted. The Make-A-Wish foundation will be sending Addison and her family to the Keys for a spring break vacation this March.
All in all, the event raised more than $130,000, helping Make-A-Wish surpass their initial fundraising goal. The money raised will go towards creating life-changing experiences for children with critical illnesses – granting wishes for 16 kids just like Addison.
