Power Design hosted 27 interns on the GRID this Summer, representing 13 universities across the United States and for the first time ever – Canada! Over the course of the Summer, our #PDInterns spent time working across multiple departments at Power Design; from our Engineering division to our Legal team, these scholars learned from some of the best mentors in the industry!
As Summer came to a close and school back in session, we caught up with a couple of our #PDInterns to see what the highlight of their internship was – Meet Caitlyn Them and Lisa Han!
What are you most proud of accomplishing during your internship?
I take immense pride in the work I was able to contribute to my job sites, one in Denver and one in Phoenix. There is no feeling like visiting a job site and being able to see all of your hard work come to life. I am very thankful for the whole Power Design team for making this opportunity a reality. – Caitlyn
I am proud of all the project contributions I have made as an intern. I am also proud of myself for completing my first internship – I had no idea what to expect this summer, but I am happy with how amazing my experience has been at Power Design. – Lisa
What skills are you leaving with that you learned or developed?
I had little to no experience with electrical work, but I was excited to try something new. Through the trainings that Power Design provided and with help from my team, I was able to learn a lot about Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing. I am leaving with an enhanced knowledge of MEP, along with stronger communication skills, time management skills, and an increased understanding of PDI best practices. – Caitlyn
I have not only learned a lot about new softwares that I haven’t yet touched on in my courses, but I have also learned a lot more about the construction industry. I also attended many engineering training sessions that align with the content I learn within my major. – Lisa
What will you miss most about being on the GRID?
I will miss all of the opportunities that Power Design provided! Whether it’s on-campus amenities, or trainings, Power Design will do just about anything to see their employees flourish and grow in their careers. – Caitlyn
I will miss all the people! I will miss working on projects with my team and spending time with all the interns that were here with me this summer. – Lisa
