Most recently, our employees from across Power Design volunteered more than 90 hours at four Tampa Bay high schools to help guide nearly 400 students through several real-world business scenarios; we sat with students discussing business plans the students put together and how they would be executed in real life.
“They had big ideas and a genuine desire to help their community through entrepreneurship,” Lightning Senior Project Manager Vicky Bui said. “It’s refreshing to see that the next generation is thinking about how they can impact their community and be socially conscious.”
The students received feedback from all types of our employees – from a Chief People and Culture Officer and a Community Engagement Manager to a Senior Project Manager and a Financial Analyst – which allowed them to see how a business approaches a plan from all angles.
“My favorite part about our model and our students working with our local business partners is their ability to connect with folks in their community that are doing things outside of what they’re used to,” Hillsborough High School Teacher Kelvin Pruitt said. “They’re exposed to different careers that they didn’t even know existed and, again, they’re able to expand their aspirations of what they want to be and become.”
No matter what their aspirations are for “what’s next,” we are #PDIProud to be involved in shaping the future generation of the workforce.
