At Power Design, we strive to give back and make a difference for something bigger. This summer, two members of our own #PDIFamily did just that. LV Production Supervisor Chris Fahrny met a little girl named Hailey through Piper's Angels, inspiring him to overcome a challenge known as The Crossing for Cystic Fibrosis. Ultimately leading him and Power Design to be one of the biggest partners of The Crossing.
For the 10th year in a row, we are proud to be now the longest-running sponsor for The Crossing for Cystic Fibrosis, and this year, Power Design donated more than $18,000 to help raise awareness and find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis — a life-threatening lung disorder that affects more than 30,000 people in America, including Hailey.
So this year, Chris alongside first-time Crossing competitor Campus Security Specialist Ryan Goodwin made the 80+ mile journey — Chris on his paddle board, and Ryan in his kayak — from Bimini to Lake Worth, Florida. After traveling overnight through the Gulf Stream, and avoiding storms, the duo made it back to land nearly 14 hours later, welcomed home by close friends and family, including their Power Design family.
Chris was our first Crossing champion, but don't get us started on Ryan! Originally planning to just volunteer for the event, one month before the launch he decided to join in on the challenge! Even with such little time to prepare, Ryan did the unthinkable and finished the crossing.
"My goal every year is to get a new person involved, and I couldn't have picked a better person than Ryan to cross that ocean next to me," LV Production Supervisor Chris Fahrny said.
