    Mentorship: Fueling Growth in Construction

Mentorship in construction is more than just guidance; it's about building lasting relationships that drive professional and personal development.  That’s mentorship at its finest. Let us introduce you to two members of our #PDIFamily who are killin’ the name of the game when it comes to a mentorship relationship. Senior Superintendent James Bethinger has taken more than two decades of knowledge and experience and poured it into his right-hand man on the job site, Assistant Superintendent Kris Walls

I'm lucky that I've identified my mentor so early on, that he’s willing to ride through the years with me and help me grow, which he already has very much.

Kris Walls | Assistant Project Superintendent

This duo has traveled to multiple states, including Virigina and North Carolina, to shape projects from the ground up together and have had a lot of fun while doing it. Hear how the importance of mentorship has impacted both James and Chris ⬇️

Chris and James’ relationship speaks volumes about the importance of a mentor-mentee relationship. Chris went through the motions of his day-to-day life until he met James, and shortly after, he realized that he could do more and was made for more. It was James and Chris’s new young family that got him there. Whether James was able to recommend courses to Chris to freshen up on his tactical skills or to instill best practices in him on and off the job site, together, Chris has entered the big leagues and is ready to start his journey as a mentor to future generations.

I think if you take a genuine interest in the people that work for you and you advocate for them and you look out for them in their career and you really stay focused on that, everything else kind of falls into place because you're naturally going to want to help them improve in their career or take the next step in their career.
