Showcasing our expertise in more ways than one? Why yes, yes we are!
We doubled our expertise and fun in the vibrant arts hub of Washington D.C. when our #PDIFamily not only took on a high-end renovation project of a historic landmark but also a new build multi-family high rise arms distance away.
When it came to piecing together the puzzle of the three-story Rubell Museum, there were many rules and guidelines to uphold and maintain it as a historic building — making this the perfect challenge for the industry's most trusted partner.
This electrical design build renovation required our teams to collaborate meticulously across trades in an effort to uphold the building's historic integrity. From our expansive Systems Technologies to our skilled Lighting, our multi-trade magic came to fruition on this 1993 landmark.
Renovations come with many surprises because simply put, we don't always know what's behind the walls, but as a multi-trade contractor our highly-skilled team members knew how to hit the ground running and renovated the historic project the Power Design way.
"Our teams had to find creative ways around the historic integrity and create unique openings to figure the museum needs out!"
— Suzy Albert | Foreman SOT
With two different projects, and two different contractors on site, our team members worked together to bring these projects to life. From timely production to adding additional work, and having the right team members on the project, we were able to deliver everything our partners Balfour Beatty and Christman Construction put to us and delivered through a seamless experience.
Even with a high-priority build on one side of the job site, our teams simultaneously brought to life a 13-story, 489-unit high rise apartment building, posed with beautiful downtown D.C. views: GALLERY 64. Our expertise shined through as this electrical design build project developed and as it did, our partners requested even more assistance from our teams. Our in-house lighting design team was called upon by our client to help out in different aspects of both museum and the apartments.
"Our in-house lighting design team jumped right in to help bring these projects to life."
— Michael Oakes | Project Manager
We sat down with Power Design front runners Foreman SOT Suzy Albert and Project Manager Michael Oakes to hear more about what it took to bring this duel project to life.
As an industry leader founded on core values such as innovation, our teams are equipped to take on any project — whether that’s building a city’s tallest building, or keeping history alive, our teams continue Designing What's Next in the communities where our people live and work.
