This past week, Power Design proudly celebrated Women in Construction Week, shining the spotlight on the talented and driven women shaping the future of our industry.

From women’s led builds at Habitat for Humanity in our local community to celebrate our #WIC from coast-to-coast, take a look at our key takeaways from this week and share a special shoutout to just a few of our rockstar ladies who are helping to break industry barriers, and encouraging others to join them.
As we celebrate these women for fostering diversity and inclusion, we hosted a powerful networking panel and happy hour, where women leaders and executives shared their insights, experiences, and strategies for success in a historically male-dominated field. The theme of this networking panel? Grit and grace – two things that are key to making your mark as a Woman in Construction. Take a look at a few takeaways from our panelists ⬇️
Meet Our Panelists: With over 75 years of combined experience, these ladies are also members of our Women’s Leadership Council and are actively involved in both the industry and giving back to our communities in more ways than one.
- Lauren Permuy, Chief Growth Officer
- Stephanie Morge, Director of Learning and Development
- Nelzay Rivas Pulgar, Vice President of Construction Operations
- Heather Ford, Chief Financial Officer
Our #PDIFamily submitted questions prior to the panel for our panelist to provide valuable guidance to help support and encourage them throughout their career – including work-life balance, standing out in a male-dominated industry, and finding confidence in using your voice. They also emphasized the importance of mentorship and the impact it can have on career growth and professional development.
The Power of Grit and Grace:
Grit and grace – two things that can help women in construction become superstars. These two attributes will help women navigate the daily challenges they face in the industry. By showing up to a male-dominated industry with grit, owning your seat at the table, and remembering to give yourself grace both personally and professionally. The key takeaway from grit and grace? Encouraging women to embrace challenges head-on while maintaining professionalism, kindness, and confidence in their abilities.
Expanding Opportunities for Women in Construction:
The panelists also shared the countless pathways for women in construction—whether in leadership, trades, operations, finance, or business development. The industry is constantly evolving, and women are playing an increasingly pivotal role in its growth and innovation. Power Design’s CEO and COO, Mitch Permuy and Joe Micallef joined in the conversation by emphasizing the importance of more women joining the trades and construction workforce and encouraged everyone in the room to bring their fresh perspectives and diverse talents to the table.
Looking Ahead:
Power Design remains committed to advocating for and empowering women in construction. Our Women’s Leadership Council recognizes that events like this panel discussion are just one step toward building a more inclusive industry. Through mentorship, education, and ongoing support, we’re creating a place where women can thrive and lead.
As #WICWeek2025 comes to a close, we’re encouraging all women in the industry—whether career-long professionals or those considering a career in construction—to keep pushing boundaries, seeking opportunities, and lifting each other up. Together, we are not only shaping the future of Power Design but also making a lasting impact on the construction industry as a whole.
