At Power Design, we put our people’s passion into action in more ways than one — but this month, our Project V5 sights are set on the fight against Breast Cancer.
In true Power Design fashion, Project V5 was taken to the next level through a friendly team-building competition on the GRID last April. From relay races and obstacle courses to marble mazes and more, our teams competed in the name of their chosen charity for a $15,000 grand prize. While stakes were high in this passion-fueled competition, our winning team (#MoneyMafia) chose to donate their earnings to the American Cancer Society (ACS) — a choice that not only Team Money Mafia could get behind, but could every competitor and member of our #PDIFamily.
In memory of his late sister and extended member of our Power Design family, it was important to Low Voltage Project Manager Schahriar Omar Ramos-Roman that the winning proceeds be donated to the American Cancer Society to raise awareness, help families in need, and find a cure. Given Power Design’s long-standing partnership and involvement with the ACS in addition to Omar’s wish to honor his sister, this was an honor we took to heart.
Like Omar mentioned, we decided to take things one step further following the donation to ACS — Power Design partnered with The Hope Lodge: a center for cancer patients that provides clean spaces for both patients and their families who must travel for treatment. We’re proud to announce that The Hope Lodge now has a dedicated Power Design suite for those in need.
With his winning Money Mafia teammates by his side, Omar and friends were invited to tour the Hope Lodge and learn more about their mission before the dedication of Power Design’s suite. Vice President of Systems Technologies and leader of the Money Mafia Team Trent Morano even tagged along to show his support.
Our Project V5 initiatives extend throughout the year at Power Design, but the month of October is one where we go big. While our Chief Operating Officer Joe Micallef is a dedicated member of the “Real Men Wear Pink Campaign”, we’re also a longstanding partner of the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk — so here’s your chance: join us in the fight.
