It’s Hispanic Heritage Month and we’re dedicated to honoring Hispanic and Latinx/e cultures at Power Design.
We’re proud to celebrate the diversity of our team members, so we sat down to talk all things #HispanicHeritage with Power Design’s Director of Field Technology: Melvin Gonzalez.
What does Hispanic Heritage Month mean to you?
Hispanic heritage is all about honoring the sacrifice my parents made by leaving their home in Puerto Rico for better opportunities. They prioritized a future for our family without leaving behind our culture and values.
Who inspires you during Hispanic Heritage Month?
My father inspires me because he left the island without knowing English, yet his eagerness to obtain the American dream for our family drove him to succeed. He taught me that family is always first, while hard work and a sense of humor are the keys to success – all of which have molded me into the person I am today.
How has your heritage played a part in your success at Power Design?
My heritage has played a huge role in my career. From speaking multiple languages to having pride and passion about my work, my heritage has paved the way for me to better connect with our field teams through language, culture, and cuisine.
