Talk about a summer for the books — Power Design welcomed our PowerU Apprentice classes to the GRID to prepare them for leveling up in their next year of apprenticeship.
Throughout the summer, the classes spent a week each on the GRID with their classmates and technical instructors to network, prepare for the upcoming year of coursework, and have some in-person fun together! This time was extra special for the classes to be in one place since our apprentices are shaping skylines across the nation, leaving them to only “see” each other in the virtual classroom.
Each class of apprentices received tailored, one-on-one hands-on training from their instructors and it even went beyond our Best Practices and Evaluation Center — they took their learning outside of the classroom to United Rentals for all things certifications. From excavator and scissor lift training to conduit bending and troubleshooting, our apprentices are learning the electrical trade and so much more, including management training that provides the tools for them to advance even further in their careers.
It was an exciting summer to say the least for more reasons than one; our inaugural Power U Apprenticeship class graduated, and we welcomed 25 new apprentices to our #PDIFamily on signing day to begin their four-year journey in the trade.
Our PowerU Apprenticeship program is expanding rapidly with every new class, and we can’t wait to see the future workforce leave their mark on the industry and on Power Design.
